Description:

The Finance Manager is responsible for oversight of all financial functions of an agency with an organizational budget in the range of $1 million dollars, ensuring the accuracy of the books and producing financial reports and analysis of data as needed to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The Finance Manager will maintain all general ledger accounts; maintain accounts payable and receivable including allocation of expenses to grants and/or contracts; conduct monthly and year-end closeouts; prepare periodic financial reports and organizational financial statements on a monthly and YTD basis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); develop and monitor budgeting across all departments; maintain periodic agency filings; and serve as the primary point of contact with external accounting and audit entities. The Finance Manager reports to the Executive Director.

 

Responsibilities:

 Prepare, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts

 Maintain accounts payable including processing weekly disbursements including scheduled charges and adjustments (prepaid expense release, indirect cost entry, bill/check void, etc.)

 Maintain accounts receivable including reviewing aging reports on a monthly basis

 Maintain agency-issued credit card and complete monthly statement reconciliation

 Work with external payroll service to ensure accurate payroll and tracking of time sheets and PTO

 Manage general operating grants

 Allocate payroll and benefits to grants and/or contracts

 Reconcile bank statements

 Produce year-end 1099 and W-2 forms

 Update schedule of fixed assets annually or as needed

 Prepare monthly organizational financial statements

 Prepare periodic financial reports applicable to grants and/or contracts

 Develop and monitor various agency, program, grant, and contract budgets

 Maintain filings including individual state registrations, tax exempt certificates, and indirect cost rate agreements

 Assist in external audits and 990 informational returns

 May perform other essential Administrative duties to ensure full coverage

 Possible management of one intern

 

Required Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration AND 5+ years related non-profit accounting experience

 Demonstrated experience in general ledger; accounts payable and receivable; accruals and journal entries; payroll and payroll reports

 Demonstrated experience in grant and/or contract management

 Ability to manage completing tasks and deadlines while working with multiple departments

 Excellent computer skills (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office suite, and Google Apps office suite including Chrome)

 Must be very detail-oriented and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

 Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check

 Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 Master’s degree in accounting or business administration

 Experience in short and long-term budgeting and forecasting

 Experience in indirect cost recognition and proposals

 Knowledge of American Indian/Alaska Native culture

 

Type: Full-time

 

Wage and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits package for this position is competitive with other human service agencies in Colorado.
